Being a poor student doesn’t mean you have to put your travel plans on hold. In fact traveling as a student, whether it be at home or abroad, can be done on a small budget as there are many deals there for you to take advantage of.

Use the fact that you are a student to get discounts. Before you go traveling get yourself a student discount card and use it. The ISIC (International Student Identity Card) will get you concessions on tourist attractions, food and shopping among other things. This card is for any student regardless of age or for youth aged between twelve and twenty six and can be used in over one hundred countries. This student discount card comes complete with an international phone card and a voice mail account. This ensures you can be contacted while traveling.

There is also the International Student Exchange Card (ISEC) which gives travel discounts across the globe. Discounts can be as much as fifty percent on such things as museums, movies, transport options and accommodation. Not only will this card save you a lot of money while traveling, it also provides other benefits including assistance with medical expenses and evacuation fees if caught in a disaster. You also have access to toll free emergency phone service world wide should you need help in urgent situations. The ISE card will also provide you with airline bankruptcy protection. If you book your flights through an ISE agency, you will be covered if your carrier goes bust.

And finally there is the International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) which you can get if you are under twenty six years of age. There is a small charge associated with this card, but the benefits outweigh this cost when traveling. This card will get you discounts in about fifty countries including airfare discounts, accommodation reductions and entry in to tourist attractions at a reduced rate.

Other student cards that offer discounts are transport cards such as the STA Travel card or Young Persons railcards issued in the United Kingdom. But the offers don’t stop there for students. In western countries it is wise to ask if there are student discounts in any place where you are about to part with your money. Discounts can be given by restaurants, retailers (on just about anything) and hostels. Not all places advertise that they give discounts so if you don’t ask, you’ll never find out what savings you can make.

Students aren’t the only lucky ones to get fabulous travel discounts. Seniors also have deals available to them while traveling as do group travelers and families. Investigate what discounts apply to you and ensure you take advantage of them.

This particular opportunity usually accompanies various majors and concentrations, such as taking a cultural trip to the Dominican Republic to study Latin American history.

Usually, for one semester, students will travel to destinations around the globe to take classes in an environment much different than their own. This is a great time to experience the ins and outs of world politics, food, environment, culture, history and nature. The options for student travel for learning purposes ranges from Wales to Brazil to maritime exploration on the Pacific to South African medical study.

Spring Break

You may see many destinations listed for the best Spring Break hot spots for student travel, decorating the television screen as you flick through MTV during the springtime. Filled with margaritas and late-night clubbing, Cancun is one of the craziest places to attract the most Spring Breakers. Sandy beaches in Mexico provide just the right atmosphere to accommodate students who need a hefty dose of unwinding, while the energy of Las Vegas never stops.

Additional popular student travel choices for Spring Break include Acapulco, floating hotels in Negril, Jamaica, Shell Island and Panama City, Florida, Daytona Beach, the white beaches of Nassau, Bahamas and the ski resorts in Colorado.

Educational Conference

In regard to student travel, being chosen to represent your college at a conference is a great honor, depending on the subject. Not only will you get a chance to learn outside of the campus, but also enjoy all of the exciting acquaintances and city scenery you may come across during a trip. School-related conferences are just the thing to take a break from monotonous campus life.

Home For the Holidays

The most common times for student travel is when the holidays roll around. Thanksgiving and Christmas are some of the perfect times to visit family and friends. Whether it’s taking a road trip to reacquaint yourself with hometown hospitality or flying in to meet with the parents of your significant other, there are plenty of reasons for students to travel during the holiday season.

Student travel is a common activity that many colleges and universities both encourage, as well as make possible. Whether student travel is used to learn about specific cultures, relieve stress, gain new experiences or revisit the past, the possibilities serve as a never-ending adventure. It is through student travel that individuals have time to truly find themselves and conquer the world as up and coming adults.

By: Adrian Adams

About the Author:

After all, with mounting student debt, all those essays and exams, and the issue of finding a graduate job afterwards, your life can get somewhat emotionally and financially stressful. However, one of the main luxuries afforded to students – a luxury that is rarely available again in life until retirement – is the benefit of long holidays. If you’re a student, it’s important to take advantage of your holidays and take the opportunity to travel while you can.

It’s all too easy to spend those long summer holidays at home, working during the day and catching up with old friends and family at night. However, if you spend the first half of your holiday working solidly and saving up your hard-earned cash, the best reward possible will be to spend the second half of your vacation travelling abroad – and the number of opportunities available to you are endless. For instance, you could take a six week backpacking holiday in India, China or South East Asia to discover some of the world’s most exotic and historic locations.

Alternatively, take some time out to travel around the United States. While taking a holiday in the USA is guaranteed to strain your finances more than a holiday in a developing country might, there are various ways you can save money. For example, if you choose to travel by coach during your American summer vacation, you could save a lot of money and limit your carbon footprints by not taking a flight. A coach journey from New York to Chicago might seem like a long and daunting prospect, but you’ll also be able to see much more of the country than you’d otherwise be able to.

Even if you feel you can’t afford to take such long haul trips, rest assured you’ll still be able to travel. Flights and trains to Europe can be expensive, if you don’t book early enough, but many coach providers provide services to the continent for much cheaper fares. This way, you’ll be able to get to Paris, Berlin or any other top destination in Europe conveniently and easily, while giving yourself the luxury of being able to survey the European countryside while you travel.

Or why not take the coach to one of many top destinations in the UK for a weekend trip that won’t break the bank. For instance, if you’re at university in Leeds and you’re planning to visit a friend in Cornwall, you’ll be able to take the coach to the sunny south-east with no problem at all. Or, opt for overnight coach travel from London to Edinburgh on a Friday night; you’ll arrive in Scotland’s stunning capital bright and early on Saturday morning, ready for a top-class weekend before having to return to your classes on Monday morning. Moreover, many UK coach travel providers offer student or young person’s discounts.

So, wherever you’re planning to travel to, rest assured that coach travel is likely to be your cheapest option. Just don’t forget to put those long holidays to good use while they last!

By: Adam Singleton

About the Author:

The holiday season can be a hard one, especially if you’re a college student. First of all, you probably don’t’ have the greatest job in the world, so you’re not going to be able to spend a lot of gifts. Second of all, if you don’t have enough money, you may resort to your credit card and this is where the big no-no’s start. It’s important to realize that when you don’t have any money, you shouldn’t resort to your credit card at all. This means that even though it’s Christmas, you’re going to have to be a lot more creative with your gifts. You shouldn’t go out and buy your brother that sixty dollar game when you only have twenty in your bank account.

If you do have a little cash to spare during the holiday season, then we can help you spend that money wisely so you don’t end up near that debt ledge.

Think of a budget

Before you even start spending your money, write down every person’s name that you want to buy for. Next to their name, note a little price that you’re willing to spend on them. This way when you go out to buy the gifts, you’ll know exactly what you can spend on each. Make sure that you stick to this budget. If you tend to go over, you may spend more than you want to and this is what leads people to debt.

Be Creative

Instead of going out and buying that expensive video camera, you can think of something a lot more creative that will cost probably eighty percent less. There are plenty of good gift ideas out there if you put your mind to it. If you don’t have a creative mind and you would rather just buy the expensive gifts, this again can cause you to spend more than what you can handle.

Don’t overbuy

The holidays are about the spirit of giving but you also have to make sure that you’re not buying for too many people. A lot of the times you may feel bad if someone gives you a gift that you never expected to get one from. Think of what others will think if you give them a gift and they weren’t expecting it. It’s usually best to keep gifts to your immediate family and your very close friends. If you do this, you shouldn’t have to worry about buying things for people that won’t give you anything.

Prepare for the next year

This sounds stupid to a lot of people but after Christmas, it’s usually the best time to buy a lot of items. People tend to return a lot of open box items that still work. Since the retailers can’t sell them for the full price, they will usually set them on a table for half the price.

This is when you can come in and buy these great bargains. If you see something someone might like, you can always save it for next year.

Staying out debt during the holidays is only hard if you make it that ways. It’s important that you budget and make sure that you stick to it. If you can follow these steps, the debt path will never come your way.

By: Tom Tessin

About the Author:

If students fly, it is so much quicker than other means of commute so they have less traveling time and more days to have fun in the sun. Thousands of students go to Europe in the summer, meet up with friends and backpack or travel around seeing the sights.

Cheap student airline fares make it low-priced for them and the less they pay for plane tickets, the more money they have to spend on vacation. Christmas sojourn, as well as other holidays during the year, is a very busy time at the airports as many students that go away to school, fly home to spend time with family and friends during the holidays.

There are hundreds of online sites that sell e-tickets to students. Once they become a member, often they get even greater discounts where you can compare airline ticket costs. These offers are for students only and not offered to the public.

If a student is under the age of eighteen, find out from the travel agent or airline if the student can purchase the ticket or if someone over the age of 18 needs to buy the ticket for them. There are cheap student airline fares around, so shop wisely and save money.

By: John Thompson

About the Author:

If you are a youth and want cheap air travel, you should exploit at least the status fares in the airline industry.Just like other so-called status fares in the airline industry, student airfares are one way of getting a cheaper ticket airfare in the industry.Typically, student airfares apply to student travellers under the age of 26 who are still enrolled in school. This is one avenue of cheap air travel especially for youths. For the airlines, they could offer such cheap air travel discounts without worrying that they would be abused by other passengers looking for alternative way out to pay the normal high-published airfares in the industry, given the restrictions on age and student identification.Apart from the discounts which could be 20%-30% cheaper, student airfares are also generally far more flexible than regular airfare tickets.Still, if you are looking for cheap air travel tickets via this route,
…

If you are a youth and want cheap air travel, you should exploit at least the status fares in the airline industry.

Just like other so-called status fares in the airline industry, student airfares are one way of getting a cheaper ticket airfare in the industry.

Typically, student airfares apply to student travellers under the age of 26 who are still enrolled in school.

This is one avenue of cheap air travel especially for youths. For the airlines, they could offer such cheap air travel discounts without worrying that they would be abused by other passengers looking for alternative way out to pay the normal high-published airfares in the industry, given the restrictions on age and student identification.

Apart from the discounts which could be 20%-30% cheaper, student airfares are also generally far more flexible than regular airfare tickets.

Still, if you are looking for cheap air travel tickets via this route, note that student or youth airfares tickets may not typically be available from your regular travel agents.

This is because such student fares are not usually included in the computerised reservation systems (CRS) used by the airlines.

As such, it is easier for you to search for such airfare options from those specialised travel agencies that deal only in student airfare markets.

Remember that not all airlines offer student fares as a cheaper air travel option, and also that their rules and requirements varies from one another.

The most important requirement is normally proof of age (identity card or driving license) and also that you must be holding a current and valid International Student Identify Card (ISIC) at the time of ticketing and when travelling on a student airfare ticket.

Further note that student airfares will not necessarily be the cheapest airfares option that you can find even if you as a student can take advantage of it.

Nonetheless, for a cheaper air travel alternative, they will still beat the usual regular published airfares hands down.

However, if you are looking at cheap air travel options for international travel, you may find that consolidator airfares are often cheaper than student airfares, especially to a country serviced by ethnic-based travel agencies.

Further, there are less student airfare options than consolidator tickets, and the airlines are less likely to offer cheaper student airfares if they can sell them already under the radar as consolidator fares.

If you are picky and a real cheap air travel fan, then note all the alternatives above.

For the airlines, to offer student airfares is good publicity gimmick at the least and also a way to at least sell these status fares at whatever higher fare they could.

Further, much of students travel is non-discretionary and also time-limited and predictable or in other words around their holiday semester break.

Some of these periods like during the year-end and summer period are high-demand period (you won’t get other cheap air travel tickets options much during these times also) and as such, airlines are not likely to be too generous on discounted fares then.

Further, some thinking in the industry is that nice parents are more likely happy to pay higher airfares for their little darling children to go for their holiday breaks.

All the above reasons partly explain why the market for discounted student airfares are served mainly by travel agency specialists who use techniques such as bulk buying, charters and even consolidator tickets itself for such cheap air travel fares.

Still, for a cheaper air travel bill, student airfares are excellent value on their own although you should still compare their fares with other types of cheap air travel options for the reasons given above.

Here are some specialised places that you could start your student airfare searching and research from. These sites list special discounts and deals that are limited mostly to student airfares only.

It is possible also to locate student airfares that are discounted directly through the airline, or through a travel agent, but as mentioned earlier, the ones that are devoted solely to student airfares will often give you a lot more cheap air travel options on this aspect.

Further, if as student and you are thinking of travelling to Europe or other holiday breaks places for the summer, or for a full semester, or for just spring break, these specialised student airfare sites often offer great cheap air travel deals on such itineraries.

These specialised student airfare sites also have automated booking and ticketing of student and youth fares on their site and are a good place to start your search from.

Alternatively, you can search more of these cheap student air travel options through the Internet search engines:

a) Council Travel (www.counciltravel.com) – This is the travel agency division of the Council on International Education and Exchange (www.ciee.org) and has long been the largest student travel specialist in the United States.

College students will find here the biggest cheap air travel bargains on international carriers, which typically offer student fares to Europe on a standby basis. If you’re under 26, you can also take advantage of low-fare charter and consolidator flights that are made available by CIEE.

b) STA Travel (www.sta.com) – This is one of the world’s largest student, youth and budget travel organisation. STA Travel specialises in cheap student airfares, hotels and hostels, student travel insurance and international student identification cards and you are likely to find a host of options here and their affiliated agencies.

c) Student Universe (www.studentuniverse.com) – Student Universe is an online private travel service that specialises in students airfares. By negotiating with the major airlines on their behalf, Student Universe is able to provide students with exclusive and significantly cheap air travel fares catering to them.

At the end of the day, remember that irregardless of which cheap air travel options you choose, always compare prices between sites and their requirements before deciding on the final choice.

By: Steven Liew

About the Author:

Hawaii, just hearing or reading the name fills me with dreams of the Garden of Ede. If there ever was a paradise on earth, what else could it be but Hawaii. I know I am not alone. Hawaii – these small islands in the middle of the Pacific ocean – have been a source of creative stimulations for generations of poets, writers, artists and musicians – and people all over the world have heard of it. And so many people can’t get it wrong; these islands must be great, as close to a paradise on earth as possible. If you are a student, then you may be wondering what sort of travel arrangements you can make for your holidays. Students rarely have enough money to go anywhere very expensive, and the chance to go abroad may seem very limited. If you want to go somewhere, you might consider some student travel in Hawaii.

Hawaii is one of the choicest destinations, and to a poverty-laden student, travel in Hawaii may be a secret delight. The reason for this is that student travel in Hawaii means cheap accommodation and there are a number of websites that can help you with everything from planning your travel to finding a good place to surf. They may also be able to suggest an itinerary, or be able to point out good places to visit. Some websites have worked hard to find cheaper offers for students, affordable packages that enable student travel in Hawaii. You will find fantastic backpacking adventures in South Africa and cheap student travel in Hawaii.

Another good idea for student holidays is backpacking adventures. South Africa provides a lot of opportunity, both for cheap accommodation and exciting backpacking adventures. South Africa is one of the most popular destinations for this kind of trip, and there are a lot of websites devoted to helping you get the most from your trip. If you decide that you want backpacking adventures in South Africa you will find glamorous cities, fantastic natural features that are some of the most beautiful in the world, and attractive safaris that see rare animals in their native environment. South Africa has a lot to offer the student, and you may be stuck between the choice of backpacking there or going for student travel in Hawaii. It can be a tough decision since both are so tempting; unless you sacrifice the beer money and have two holidays in the summer.

By: Ian Koch

About the Author:

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list but a useful summary giving guidance on some key visa options .

Understanding your options

The first step is to categorise each visa. Determine whether the visa is an independent visa option, obtainable by the applicant alone? Or does the visa require the sponsorship of an employer, spouse, family member or state body for the visa to be granted?

Then work out whether the visa is a visa to remain in Australia permanently or temporarily.

Once you have categorised the visas in this way you can then look at the rights that attach to each visa to see whether the visa will help you achieve your goals in coming to or remaining in Australia, e.g. does the visa allow me to work, part time or full time, for who, doing what? Can I study? Can I live anywhere etc?

Categorising visas in this way will allow you to work out the best visa option for you depending on your goals and personal circumstances. What options are then available will vary depending on your skills, work experience, qualifications, financial resources and / or whether you are able to gain the support of a sponsor to back you in your application.

Independent Permanent Migration – subclass 175

General skilled Migration – The points test.

A permanent residency (permanent residency) visa is the most beneficial visa to apply for as it allows you to remain permanently in Australia to live, work and study and to gain Australian citizenship.

To be eligible for permanent residence you will need to have formal qualifications and at least 12 months work experience in your trade or profession in the 24 months immediately before your application is lodged. Before you lodge your application you will need to have your qualifications and / or skills positively assessed by a designated assessing body and achieve 120 points to satisfy the points test for this visa.

Points are awarded to an applicant on the basis of, among other things, professional qualifications, work experience, age, English language ability and time working in Australia. Calculating your points accurately and categorising your occupation correctly is the key to successfully applying for this visa. An error in either of these areas often leads to the visa being refused and the applicant, rather than gaining permanent residency, having to leave Australia.

With this visa you can live and work anywhere in Australia and are not tied to a sponsor or employer.

If you seek permanent residency and do not score sufficient points to emigrate independently, then regional sponsored migration may be an option that you explore after your working holiday visa expires.

Sponsored Permanent Migration

General Skilled Migration with Sponsorship – subclass 176 visa and subclass 475 visa

Again, you must have qualifications and work experience to be eligible for permanent sponsored migration on the basis of points. However, you will either need less points, or gain points for being sponsored, to achieve permanent residency through this visa stream.

Being sponsored usually means you have to live and work for 2 years (as a standard rule) in an area related to your sponsor. For example if you are sponsored by a family member, you will have to live in the town or city they live, if you are sponsored by a state government, you will have to live in that state.

Remember parts of regional Australia are some of the most beautiful parts of Australia and offer great lifestyles and opportunities for people that emigrate through this visa stream.

Your immigration lawyer or migration agent should be able to assist in obtaining state sponsorship or you can apply directly to each state usually through their websites.

After you have spent the 2 years working and living in the designated area, you will then be able to gain an unconditional permanent residence visa to move and live anywhere you wish in Australia.

Sponsored Temporary

Sponsored Working Visa - Subclass 457 visa

If permanent residency is not available to you at this stage, then a temporary working visa may allow you to live and work in Australia until another permanent residence option opens up for you.

If you can’t satisfy the points test but have qualifications, work experience and an employer willing to sponsor you, then this may be the most suitable visa for you.

If granted this visa, you will have to work for the sponsoring employer for the period of the visa (usually 4 years) or until the employer ends your employment or withdraws their sponsorship or both. If this occurs, then you will usually be given some time to find new employment and a new sponsor to support you to apply for a new subclass 457 visa. However, without a sponsor you will not be able to remain in Australia on this visa.

There are two distinct stages to this visa application. Firstly, the employer applies for approval as a sponsor and when approved, nominates your for the visa. You then make an application for the visa in the nominated occupation.

To be eligible you must have qualifications and work experience relevant to the occupation in which you have been nominated. You must also satisfy the relevant English language requirement – either by being from an English speaking country or sitting an IELTS exam.

For your employer to be approved as a sponsor they must employ Australian citizens or permanent residents (at least 2 as a general rule), have good financials and be able to prove it and a good training record or commitment to training,

Very new businesses will find it a little more difficult to gain approval to sponsor employees but certainly not impossible with a well drafted and complete application.

There are a number of benefits that flow from being sponsored on a temporary working visa, subclass 457.

After 2 years on this visa and 12 months with an employer, your employer can nominate you directly for permanent residence – subclass 856 visa. Once granted, you have no obligation to remain with the employer and can move on to work anywhere. This is why employers often prefer to keep employees on a subclass 457 visa to retain control of their services, rather than helping them get permanent residence and losing them to another employer offering more money or better conditions.

Also, after working in Australia full time on this visa for at least 12 months, you will be eligible for 10 Australian work experience points, which may give you enough points to apply for permanent residency independently. You may also gain points in other areas due to the passage of time and changes in your circumstances.

Independent Temporary

Student Visas – Rights to Study Full Time and Work Part Time.

If you have no skills or qualifications, or can’t find an employer sponsor, or wish to strive for a new career, student visas are a very good, and may be your only, visa option to consider if you are on a working holiday subclass 417 visa.

Student visas are a good option because international students, after satisfying the ‘2-year Australian study’ requirement, are eligible to apply for permanent residence. They will still have to satisfy the points test but if they do not have enough points, they are able to apply for a temporary 18-month work visa for the goal of gaining further points from Australian work experience, then pass the points test and ultimately apply for permanent residence.

UK, Ireland, Canada and USA passport holders, which are all level 1 countries, can apply for a student visa in Australia while on a working holiday visa whereas most other passport holders will have to leave Australia to apply. Countries are given a level (or grading) according to the perceived risk a prospective student from a particular country has of breaching student visa conditions.

A student visa allows you to study full time and work 20 hours per week during semester, 40 hours per week during holiday periods and term breaks.

The key to this visa option is, if your goal is permanent residence, to pick a course of study that when completed allows you to apply for a permanent visa with an occupational qualification that will –

a) Give you enough points in your circumstances to satisfy the relevant points test, and

b) Offers strong employment opportunities either in Australia or your home country or both.

Any good Australian immigration lawyer should be able to give you this kind of direction when choosing your course of study.

Spouse Visas - Sponsored Temporary to Permanent

Married, De facto and Same Sex Couples – subclass 820 / 801 visa, subclass 826 / 814

If you have been in a relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealander, and have lived with them for at least 12 months then you will be eligible to apply for a spouse visa on the basis of your de facto relationship. Same sex couples can also apply for an interdependency visa. The Department of Immigration is very inflexible on this point and if you do not have 12 months living together as de facto partners then you will not be eligible.

If you are married, you can apply on the basis of being married.

If granted the visa, you will initially be given a 2-year temporary visa. After 2 years, if the relationship is still ongoing and your partner still sponsors you, you will be eligible for a permanent residence visa.

The challenge to successfully applying for this visa is being able to prove your relationship is genuine and that you have lived together for at least 12 months immediately before the date of your application. This is best achieved by providing a large bundle of documents as evidence including, phone records, emails, leases, household bills, photos, etc. This can be hard if you have been travelling all over Australia, living in variety of places and arrangements, paying cash for everything with very little by way of a paper trail. Without this paper trail, you stand little chance of success.

In this case, and if you have no other options, you can consider applying for a prospective marriage visa (sublcass 300) or getting married. Remember though, simply being married does not guarantee you that the visa will be granted.

The ultimate problem with spouse visas is if the relationship ends before you gain permanent residency so does your right to hold the visa and remain in Australia on the basis of your de facto or spouse relationship.

Extending your work holiday visa by 12 months - second subclass 417 working holiday visa

Most working holidaymakers are eligible to extend their visa for a further 12-month stay in Australia.

This is achieved by working for 3 months (88 days) in regional Australia (designated post code areas) in a specified occupation or employment. It is now wrong now to use the term ‘seasonal work’ as the list of occupations available to work in to be eligible for extending your visa is now far broader.

The current list of specified work can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/specified-work.htm.

The current postcode list can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/postcodes.htm .

The great benefit from achieving the 12-month extension, apart from seeing more of Australia, is that it gives you further time to develop other visa options to stay in Australia.

Remember though, if you want to extend, don’t leave it to late. You must find work, allow for periods where you can’t work of can’t find work and you must complete your 3-months and apply for your extension of your working holiday visa before your first subclass 417 visa expires. Otherwise, the opportunity to get the 2nd year on your visa is lost.

Stewart Coulson

Australian Immigration Lawyer

Turner Coulson Immigration Lawyers and Migration Agents Sydney

By: stewart coulson

About the Author:

Back in the old days when I was studying I loved to travel. Of course I had to travel a bit as part of being a student. But believe or not, in older days students had some leisure time especially between the semesters and during these couple of months I did much travelling. My biggest concern was if I had purchased the tickets with the lowest prices because always I met someone who got it cheaper than me.Today there are plenty of student travel opportunities for those who want to explore the world. There are websites that cater specifically to student travel, opportunities to go to other countries as part of package deals, and even work experience that can take you overseas. The problem of money can be overcome with careful budgeting, and there are many companies who specialise in providing a cheap package tour of countries. With
…

But believe or not, in older days students had some leisure time especially between the semesters and during these couple of months I did much travelling. My biggest concern was if I had purchased the tickets with the lowest prices because always I met someone who got it cheaper than me.

Today there are plenty of student travel opportunities for those who want to explore the world. There are websites that cater specifically to student travel, opportunities to go to other countries as part of package deals, and even work experience that can take you overseas. The problem of money can be overcome with careful budgeting, and there are many companies who specialise in providing a cheap package tour of countries.

With several weeks holiday at the end of the summer term, student travel opportunities obviously have their busiest periods at this time. This means that you can choose to go alone, or team up with others going to the same place, and travel as a group. This is the good part of student travel: opportunities abound to meet people you would not otherwise have known, and share experiences.

With the rise of blogs and the use of laptops, groups of students often take with them their school computer backpacks doubling as a laptop bag. There are special school computer backpacks, which look rather like long, thin rucksacks, in which the students can carry their computer, and make reports back to their parents and families from their holiday. Although this is a nice idea, when it comes to things as expensive as school computers, backpacks are not the safest places, and student travel opportunities like backpacking holidays are often targets for thieves.

The way to defend yourself against theft is to travel with a reputable company, and to keep your valuables small and easily hidden or placed in a safe overnight. Of course, another problem is with carrying the school computer, backpacks don’t always distribute weight very well, and if you take a heavy computer with you, you will have to carry it for long distances. Not good news when you have to continue carrying it no matter whether you hurt your back or not.

That is why you should take the lightest one possible with you and make sure you have the most secure and comfortable school computer backpacks with you during your student travel opportunities.

By: Ian Koch

About the Author:
